CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT
IT is with much sadness that we announce the resignation of Jim Burtenshaw from our club. Jim has accepted an amazing opportunity with Tauranga Boys College. Luckily for us we will retain Jims services albeit in a slightly different capacity.
At the same time the club has the pleasure of announcing the appointment of Carl Edwards to fill Jim's vacated Role.
Both Jim and Carl have taken this opportunity to say a few words;
JIMBO-
At the end of this year, I will finish up my role as Director of Football - Community at Papamoa Football Club. This year has been an amazing experience, and I have thoroughly enjoyed learning from the challenges a full-time football job has presented. Throughout the year I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing community coaches and help them progress in their understanding of coaching, along with growing the community side of the game by going into schools and delivering programmes. At the higher end, I was fortunate enough to spend just over half the season operating as the NRFL first team head coach which was excellent for my own development while working through my B Licence.
I would like to thank the whole club for this time, especially the committee members, and club president Maaka Nelson who has been an amazing help during my time as DOF. I hope that I have been able to give the club and community what was needed.
I have taken a role at Tauranga Boys' College as the Director of Football which is a new role at the school and an amazing opportunity for myself as a coach to continue to develop, but also to continue to strengthen the quality of our youth footballers within the region. I will still continue to coach at FC Tauranga Moana in the SKC and TDP and have accepted a Co Opted role at Papamoa FC on the committee to help drive our Minimoa programme.

Hi everyone, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to begin working at Papamoa FC. Papamoa FC has experienced huge growth in the last few years and I am excited by the vision of the club to assist in developing football in the area, not only for players but also coaches and administrators. I look forward to also being able to support your affiliated club FC Tauranga Moana with skills that I have learnt whilst being away. After being away from New Zealand for the last few years and working in professional football the plan was always to return to New Zealand and settle in Papamoa with my family.
I am already beginning work for the club in preparation as I look to upskill as much as I can from afar. I am currently working within the 1st team environment at Derby County in England as the lead 1st team analyst and over recent years have been with Rotherham, Houston Dynamo in the MLS and the Wellington Phoenix in the A League. Prior to that I worked with (the then) Auckland Football Federation as a Federation Development Officer and spent 4 years with Auckland City culminating in a 3rd place at the FIFA Club World Cup in 2014. Recently I have also spent time completing analyst work for the All Whites and USA soccer.
I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and playing my part in continuing the brilliant work that has been done at the club.
