Clubrooms Take shape and open on December 14

14 Nov

The clubrooms are T minus 4 weeks from opening which is a really exciting development for us all. The club has worked hard along with other codes, especially with cricket to make this a reality.There always needs to be squeaky wheels to get traction. The focus will now turn to the the operational requirements rather than pushing for build and development. The physical address of this building will be 149 Doncaster Drive.

The secondary clubrooms in the overflow carpark are progressing well. Another meeting with some further redesign work will be occuring next week and we hope to have that confirmed the end of December.

These facilities opens doors for the club that we had not had before but likewise creates a whole nother level of work and administration that will need to be worked through. This will need to be undertaken by someone.

Clubrooms aren't free and come at a large cost to A, get keys to and B, operate.

Within our lease agreement we are responsible for;

(a)All rates and other charges levied or assessed in respect of the Premises by any territorial or other local government authority

(b) All charges or levies for water, gas, electricity, telephones and other utilities or services supplied to or used on the Premises.

(c) All insurance premiums and valuation fees payable in respect of all insurances effected pursuant to this lease.

(d) All rubbish collections and sanitation charges or levies in respect of the Premises.

(e)Facility tidy up prior to handover back to cricket

To put that in perspective to get the keys for 6 months it will cost $9000. Thats just to get the keys, thats not the operational cost. The cost wil be spread equally over our website base. Luckily given the size of the club this equates to circa $10PP.

To open the doors we will operate 2 modes. One being volunterism and the second, staffed. Each mode has different cost recovery.

The club will be implementing cost recovery plus a margin to for this to occur. We are working closely with clubs such as Tauranga City AFC and Otumoetai to formulate plans around this. Needless to say its a tonne of work for someone and will need the ful support of club members to ensure it operates.

We have adjusted our field settings to allow more particiaption to occur at the AJO end of the park.

Once the facility is formally open we can work further towards things such as investigating liquor licences but until the facility is open and the lease is executed by all parties our hands are tied.

Plenty to be excited about that is for sure.
